I decided to write about bicarbonate soda and do it over seven days. I am sharing probably what is already out there , but I know one thing we never stop learning.
Removing Odour
This is specifically removing odours from bins. What I usually do is , wipe out the dirty bin with normal soap and warm water, if you are particular , however you can use use bicarb soda and warm water. To dry I take a paper towel and finish off with a table spoon of bicarb soda sprinkled all over the bin. this stops the bin from smelling and when in use it stops the bin from having a bad odour if anything accidentally slips out of your garbage bag.
The Carpet
What I do is sprinkle bicarb soda all over the carpeted area as bicarb soda has an uncanny way of absorbing smell. but how i usually do it for stains on the carpet is to make a paste of bicarb and water ,rub it on to the area with the stain, leave for 2 or 3 minutes and wipe off with a damp cloth , repeat until stain comes off. this is a good way of getting rid of the odours caused by stains and remove the stain at the same time.
however in spite of the many bicarb soda hacks I still encourage steam cleaning your carpet regularly. there is nothing as good as a steam cleaned carpet to brighten the home.
Food Stuck to Pots and Pans
You know the sticky food that just wont go away no matter how hard you try to remove it, I have done this method myself and has never failed me.
Take the pot/pan/baking tray and leave some very hot water in there, put a table spoon of bicarb soda depending on how much you have to remove, remember if the pan or pot is greasy make sure you add some lemon if not lemon (a whole lemon squeezed) , a lemon based dish washing liquid will do just pour a bit into the pan and leave for 2 or 3 hours , if you prefer leave over night and get to it the next morning. When you do get to it, remove the water along with the unstuck food, get your scourer and dab a bit of bicarb soda in pot and your hot water this time make a paste and use scourer to remove whatever is left repeat this process until all food is gone. This wont take you any longer than 5 minutes depending on the damage.
I would definitely like to link this with a video. I am sure this is every body's major problem in the kitchen
However that's all for today tomorrow is day two of "seven days of bi carb soda"
til tomorrow
